KNOLL TO FIELD TOP
FUELER
Evan
Knoll, president of Torco Race Fuels, plans to compete
in a Top Fuel dragster at the IHRA Hooters series this
year. He had planned on making his Top Fuel debut last
season, but a dislocated shoulder suffered in a motocross
accident prevented it. Knoll, who

upgraded his license
from TAD last year, may run as many as nine events.
"There may be only six-tenths of a second difference
in these cars, but it's a whole new world running nitro," Knoll
said. "The most noticeable difference is the cockpit.
You have to reacquaint yourself all over again. Then there
are the g-forces this thing pulls and it gets very intense."
The 44-year-old from Michigan will continue with longtime
crew chief Brian Pfeifer and his TAD crew, but will add
crew members who worked for veteran Funny Car driver Dale
Creasy Jr. Larry Meyer will advise on nitro tuning. Look
for the dragster to debut at the IHRA season opener in
San Antonio, TX the end of March. (illustration

CORY MAC GETS AIRHOG SPONSOR
Carrier Boyz Racing team owners Andy and Mark Carrier
have unveiled the rendering of the Carrier Boyz Racing
2005 FRAM AirHog Top Fuel Dragster driven by Cory McClenathan.
"The relationship between FRAM, Honeywell and Carrier
Boyz Racing will be awesome," said McClenathan. "I'm
excited about getting behind the wheel of this FRAM AirHog
Dragster. I think it has the potential to put FRAM in the
winner's circle and for us (Carrier Boyz Racing) to contend
for a Top Fuel championship."
The team will do pre-season tests in Las Vegas and Phoenix
before heading for Pomona. (illustration
