he
racing season ended in the UK with the National Finals at
Santa Pod over the first weekend of October. Bitterly cold
at times, but with the track in an excellent state of preparation
and a bumper sportsman field, the curtain closed on the 2005
season at the end of an excellent meeting and the completion
of the track and national championships.
Having won the Euro Finals to finish second
in Europe, and a brief spell behind the tiller of The Mob
Fuel Altered a couple of weeks previously, Rob Turner managed
to overcome a tough Top Methanol field to take the MSA British
Top Methanol title for the eighth time.
The beautifully prepared supercharged big
block EDA dragster of Ian Tubb produces consistent mid seven
second passes and did enough through the season in Super Pro
to secure the 2005 National Points Championship.
Despite red lighting in the second round
of Pro ET, John Atkinson was still beaming at the conclusion
of the meeting having set a NPB at 9.04 on a double break-out
first round victory that proved enough to hold onto his points
lead in the very tough bracket.
