Jupiter, FL. – The 24th finals of the S& W Race 5-Day Bracket Championships was anticlimactic as rain once again forced the Florida track to a less than glorious finish. Day 4 of the five day event was sponsored by Shafiroff Race Engines and Components, and got as far as finishing round number 4 before the day was postponed due to the feeder bands from Tropical Storm Gamma. The racing was scheduled to finish the Shafiroff 4th day race on the JEGS sponsored Saturday race, but racing was once again postponed until Sunday due to constant showers.
Sunday started out with good possibilities and the track was ready to run the continuation of the race when yet another downpour put a halt to all racing for the weekend. With dark skies and more rain projected for the next two days, the final day of the five was cancelled, and the Day 4 payout was split between the remaining twenty six racers.
2006 will be the Twenty-fifth Anniversary of both Moroso Motorsports Park and the 5- Day Bracket Championships, and track owner Sue Moroso and her staff have great plans to celebrate the event. The Casino Party will return, along with the 25 year Champions Race and the twenty-five year Veterans Jackets. The race will be starting on Wednesday through Sunday in 2006, so as to allow travel time for anyone attending the World Finals. Other races and events are being planned to add to the festivities.
