Roger Gustin’s AutoStar Super Chevy
Show began its 25th anniversary tour with a DNF, but there
was still plenty of cars and competition. Nitro Coupes,
Top Sportsman, jets, and more arrived at Bradenton Motorports
Park on Friday, Feb. 25 race-ready, but Sunday’s eliminations
were upset by the Sunshine State’s notorious rain
clouds.
With a test and tune on Friday, the Workmat.net Nitro Coupes
hit the strip at noon on Saturday. Mel Eaves, Bruce Boland,
Mike Swinarski, Dave Tomasino (lead photo), Wayne Torkelson,
Jeff Merritt, and Tommy Howes were among the racers.
Defending series champ Randy Adler's
Alan Johnson-powered '57 Chevy topped the eight-car field
after two rounds with a 6.338/219.35mph pass late Saturday.
Adler switched from Street Car racing to the Super Chevy
Show series, winning nine of 10 races last season. (Steve
