Madison, IL--For the twenty-first consecutive year, Scott Seiveking’s SS Promotions presented fans of Chrysler Corporation products with the original PentAStar-fest, Monster Mopar Weekend. The three-day event packed over 820 vehicles into Gateway International Raceway and featured what is still considered to be the most diverse program in drag racing’s “Marque Event” niche. Showcasing everything from Nostalgia Funny Cars to the Slant Six Shootout to a massive 58-car Nostalgia Super Stock field, MM XXI had it all.

One welcome addition to the 2005 race was NMRA/NSCA event director Gene Bergstrom. The past NHRA Division Director finished each of the first two days within thirty seconds of the 6:00 PM scheduled completion. On the event’s final day, late-round oildowns pushed the final rounds to twenty-five minutes past Bergstrom’s schedule. Race fans were elated; Bergstrom was “slightly irritated.” At the conclusion of the massive production, Bergstrom intimated, “The Gateway crew had a lot to do with the success of the weekend. Reggie Luter and his staff never missed a beat."
