While America swelters through a hot summer, down in Australia it is winter, the off season for drag racing. The new season doesn’t start until the spring but that didn’t stop over 200 entries from getting together for a “bracket attack” at Western Sydney International Raceway. Some runs were more successful than others.

The Mazda RX-3 of Anthony Daquino (shown right) left the line OK but at half track a trail of oil came out and went under the tyres. The car rolled many times and fortunately the driver walked away.

Joe Schrembri’s Holden Top Doorslammer (shown below) has been seen on the pages of DRO before as the angry red and black entry has tried to go any which way but straight. The car chattered the tyres off the line and within an instant ended up looking down the barrel of Van Daal’s lens. It then snapped violently out of shape and crossed into the other lane before going back to its own lane.
