Peter Lovering (above) had a great race – top qualifying with a 6.31 and then winning the bracket over Steve Dupond with a 6.40 winning time.

NHRA Top Fuel stars, Scott Kalitta and David Grubnic returned to Western Sydney International Dragway on December 26 and 27 to again take on the best Australian Top Fuel Drivers in the tracks annual USA versus Australia drag racing event. For Kalitta it was the best of times but for Grubnic it was the worst.

Kalitta again piloted his old 2004 car while “Aussie Dave”  Grubnic was given a car which was set up to duplicate his U. S. based Strivetin sponsored Kalitta owned Top Fueler. For Kalitta it was a fantastic weekend while Grubnic was unable to put down a full run as the fuel system had a gremlin which kept the Aussie super star from being able to complete a full pass.

Kalitta top qualifying in Top Fuel with an astounding 4.51/332.84 (incrementals are - 60 foot: .841, 330 foot: 2.159, 660 foot: 3.077/276.24MPH, 1000 foot: 3.849, E.T. 4.517, MPH: 332.84). This is the quickest and fastest run outside America and the first step for Scott to set the Australian Top Fuel record. Not to be outdown by the American current Australian Top Fuel champion – Phillip Read. followed with a great 4.571/329.02
