NHRA Quotes from Las Vegas

he NHRA’s best hit Sin City for the second time this year Oct. 26-28, where the final four Countdown to the Championship contenders in each pro class took center stage for the seventh annual ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. When the chips were finally cashed it was hometown favorite Rod Fuller collecting the Top Fuel title to go along with his $100K win in the Technicoat Top Fuel Shootout the day before. Additionally, Tony Pedregon all but clinched the 2007 Funny Car championship with his event win, Greg Anderson returned to form with a victory in Pro Stock, and Andrew Hines continued his winning ways in Pro Stock Motorcycle. And as always, the racers tell the whole story in quotes taken from NHRA and team press releases.

TOP FUEL

"Some times I really need to pinch myself to make sure this is for real. I'm a humble guy and really consider myself just that little Super Comp racer from Northwest Arkansas.”

– Rod Fuller after defeating David Grubnic, J.R. Todd and Melanie Troxel in the $100,000-to-win Technicoat Shootout final, then going on to win the race on Sunday, too

“A hundred thousand is great, but it's gone fast;
a world championship lasts forever.”

– Fuller again,
focusing on the big picture

"It has happened to the best of the best this year and now it happened to us.” – Hillary Will after suffering her career-first DNQ after making 44 consecutive raceday starts since joining the pro ranks in 2006

"When the field is so close like this, it doesn't really matter where we qualify.” – Doug Herbert after qualifying 11th, on the entire 16-car field being separated by just .110 of a second

“It’s our lose on Sunday, test on Monday routine.” – Clay Millican after Melanie Troxel staged a come-from-behind win over him in the opening round on raceday

"It's nice to lay one out like that and it was fast early, but the main thing is, it kept charging.” – Morgan Lucas on his first-round win over Bob Vandergriff Jr.
