Mike Moran, one of the original stars of Pro Street racing, just “blew” away the Pro
Street competition at the 3rd Annual Super Street Car Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas with a dominating performance in his turbocharged Chevy-powered Monte Carlo. Moran not only won the entire event, he covered the 1320 with his best times of 6.28 at over 241.93 mph for a new Pro Street speed record! He also recorded the best ever ET for a turbocharged door car with a 6.17 blast during pre-race testing.

Other heads-up class winners included Dale Moznik in Outlaw Street, Roger Holder in the Drag Radial class, John Bundrant in Hot Street and David Bowman in Wild Street.

Moran, who is rapidly becoming the guy to see about turbocharging north of the Mason-Dixon line, with over a dozen cars running his power plants, led the 43-car Pro Street field in performance from the first day to the winner’s circle on Sunday.  His near 242-mph speeds were mind blowing. When asked about how he attributes those top end charges to he said, “Basically it’s my engine and transmission combination. I run a 580 cubic inch big block Chevy with twin turbo boost and a no-drag Liberty tranny.”

During qualifying everyone knew about Moran’s Taylor, Michigan-based Monte Carlo even though he only qualified #23 at 6.63 but NO one had heard about Pro Mod racer Lee Frank’s Missoula, Montana-based 2007 Corvette until he laid down Low ET of the meet with a 6.255/219 blast. Driving the Tim McAmis-built, Reher-Morrison big (780 ci) block-powered Vette.

A record bump for the race occurred when every team qualified below 7.00 seconds. In fact, the bump spot for this show on Sunday came down to a 6.866 by Canadian Dal Sangha and his Surry, BC-based 1990 Mustang.
