For many years Bradenton Motorsports Park has played host to racers escaping the imminent onslaught of winter weather during the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals. With warm temperatures and clear skies, this year was no exception. Top Alcohol Dragsters, Outlaw Pro Mods and Open Outlaw cars were the stars of the show Dec. 1-2, with Automatic Outlaw, Outlaw 10.5 Tire, Radial Tire and bracket racers keeping things nice and noisy.

TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER

Top Alcohol Dragster saw six entries from around the country jockeying for position during Saturday's qualifying rounds. Mick Snyder, from Demotle, IN, qualified second with a pass of 5.410 seconds at 360.79 mph piloting the Torco Racing Fuels blown alcohol dragster that took home the big trophy last year.

"Dyno" Dave Heitzman, defending runner-up from Decatur, MI, manned his Torco Racing Fuels A/Fueler to the number one spot with a 5.376/259.96 mph run. In the far lane is Travis Nicholson driving Tom Conway’s A fueler, which went up in smoke in the first round. (Adam Cranmer photo)

Florida resident Bill Evans's digger qualified third with pass of 5.546 at 259.51 mph and fellow Floridian Cherissa Smallwood was 5th with a 6.294/221.51 run. No stranger to the Snowbirds, Bruce Horner towed from Bergenfield, NJ, to qualify in the number 4 position with a 5.669/240.19 blast, while Collinsville, OK, resident Travis Nicholson rounded out the list.
