1. For just the second time in ADRL history, Dennis Radford attempted to qualify a nitrous car in the Pro Extreme class. It was looking good for the Baker City, OR, driver in teammate Billy Harper’s Viper until the last round of qualifying when he got bumped from the field and wound up 19th of 28 entries after a best pass of 4.093 seconds at 179.96 mph.

2. Number-four qualifier in Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Richard Holder holds on and hangs on as he trips the finish-line lights. The Jacksonville, FL-based rider lost in the semis to eventual event winner Steve Drake.

3. James Rester Jr., out of Morehead City, NC, prepares to qualify his 2002 Suzuki before a huge Friday-night crowd at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

4. At the end of the day, ADRL prez Kenny Nowling was literally jumping through hoops to make sure everyone had a good time. Let’s see Tom Compton or Aaron Polburn try that!

5. Marking just his second time ever in a supercharged car, Rickie Smith, the renowned Pro Nitrous and NHRA Pro Stock star, was competing in Terry Leggett’s ’07 Mustang, formerly campaigned by chassis builder Tommy Mauney. Leggett said Mauney just didn’t have the time to commit to running the entire season, so the new plan is for Smith to be in the seat at least for the remainder of 2007. After qualifying 8th at Valdosta, “Tricky Rickie” fell short of eventual race winner Joe Baker in round one.

6. Rex Kelley (left) and son Donnie (right) load a new bullet into Kelley’s Pro Nitrous ’63 Corvette on Friday afternoon. Kelley missed the opening round of qualifying that night, then struggled on Saturday, never making a clean pass and winding up last on the qualifying sheet.
