The AHDRA nitro Harleys are the favorite class of DRO when they are invited to the NHRA “Big Dance.” At Topeka these HD’s ran mid six-fifty ET’s and speeds in the 220 range. Racers like Griz Robinson from Pueblo, CO, (above) were part of a four-bike invitational field that included the Vance and Hines bike with Chip Ellis on the tank.

Alky Funny Car driver/owner Cy Chesterman showed up at the Summer Nationals with a new Mustang bodied car.

They weren’t quite SRO at Topeka but the stands certainly had plenty of fans and few seats available on Sunday.

By qualifying at Topeka Jeff Arend (above) became (we think) the only fuel coupe driver that has qualified for every national event so far this year.

J.R. Todd (right) continues to be a serious contender, now with new crew chief Kevin Poynter. Rumors continue to flood the Internet about his possible move to a John Force Funny Car for the 2008 season.
