CHUY’S Fuel Altered Nationals at Famoso
At AAA Auto Club Famoso Drag Strip in Bakersfield, California it was Saturday night, under the lights on the legendary quartermile known variously under names like Bakersfield, the patch, or for the geezers, Famosa! Anyway you identify the program- it was nitro-burning racecars with flames over the wings, and a fairly large crowd of “nitro-holics” showed up in the remote Kirn County, CA strip to watch them thunder at the 2007 version of the race.
Six “Transformer” fuel alts(those with longer wheelbases and nitro funny car powerplants) and eight traditional style (shorter wheel base, smaller blower,single-mag engines) would compete for the 2008 Chuy’s title and the coveted NHRA Wally. An additional six alky burning altereds would round out the field.
