PRO STREET

There was fantastic top of the line Pro Street racing for the grand finale for the very successful 2008 PSCA season and 13 of the nations finest Pro Streeters were on hand for this race at Auto Club Dragway. Records were shattered on the 1320 surface as the Fontana track crew along with PSCA Mel Roth’s dynamic crew had this track prepared to the max.

Clint Hairston, along with his dad Jim, brother Jake and chassis expert Bill Hickok, have got the Pertronix/Patriot-backed bright orange turbo GTO flyin’. Clint laid down a fantastic 6.324 at 226.81 mph for the #1 position.

Record holding Giuseppe Gentile in the Turbo People awesome green and yellow Mustang blasted out a fine 6.330, at a Top Speed of 232.62 mph for the fastest pass in PSCA Pro Street history. (JAMES DREW PHOTO)

Randy Walker got his cool El Camino back together after a mishap earlier this year and he and his brother also ran a career best of 6.425, at only 218.20 mph for the #3 position. PSCA’s LVMS winner Tim Henry was Mr. Consistent with his Pat Musi-prepared big block Firebird backed by Conquest Concrete qualifying at 6.521, 215.55 mph

Eric Lenore drove the potent Kirk Kuhns-tuned Dodge Viper of Bob Griffith this weekend, and the Dodge ran a best of 6.548, 211.80, which stood for the #5 spot. Art Hodges is getting a handle on his nitrous Dodge Stratus that looks more like an NHRA Pro Stocker, as he posted a 6.676, 214.51 mph. Seldom scene Alan Bessant in his Orange, CA-based bright red Camaro was next at 6.848, 204.51 mph.

Richard Klann in the “Mopar Missile” Dodge, which used to run Pro Stock but has been converted to Pro Street, was a welcome sight at 6.974, 197.86 mph. (James Drew photo)
