Keith Lynn was another chasing Clark’s mark with a 6.487/208.01 to drop in behind Davis on the qualifying sheets, having already tied up a truly impressive third championship season in a row onboard the Gordon and Lynn Racing gas and nitrous ZX11. Lynn had the low ET of round one with a 6.539/201.13 but slowed dramatically after heading Paquette to 300 feet in the next round.
Pro Mod
The nitrous and big inch Pro Mod class had a bumper field in Valdosta (a spin off from the success of the ADRL) with 25 entries attempting to qualify and the first all six second field in history with the bump at 6.950. At the sharp end of the field Casey Stemper produced a stunning 6.666/197.65 to head the field and then carded a pair of 6.6s in the quarters and semis before taking the winlight in the final round with a 6.708/196.70.
Scott Gray qualified in eleventh with a 6.880/197.71 and got real lucky in the semifinals when opponent Japel Heard redlit by .002 seconds to bin a 6.801/197.25 whilst Gray rolled to the 60 foot clocks having blown the exhaust clean off the nitrous Busa. Gray managed to pull a slight holeshot in the final round, but a 7.135 was never going to be enough to stop the flying Stemper.
