In the heads up index classes, Kenny Gallman beat Willie Waddy, Jr., Carlos Mendes and Joe Marini in the finals to win the Street Bandit class. Gallman, who finished third in championship points last year, saw this as a great way to start the year after the two drivers who finished ahead of him last season weren’t racing this class.

In Street Stang Tom Conrad, Jr. equaled last year’s victory total in this class by winning over Daniel Nestor. Conrad knocked out former class champ Tony Whetstone and then Jake Bonner on his way to the final round.

Mod Comp had a strong field of nearly 30 cars which was led in qualifying by Carl Valenine’s 9.361 at 150.40 mph from his 1994 Cobra. In fact, the first eight cars were all in the 9’s. That didn’t intimidate number seventeen qualifier Shane Williams as he blitzed through the field to make the finals against Matt Schleiv, who had qualified eleventh. Williams, who finished second last year in championship points, used this opportunity to take the win and start 2008 where he would have like to have finished last – in first.

Ron Martin used a killer .009 reaction time in his V6 to help overcome Dyno Joe Cram in Ultra Stang.

Tough Truck saw a battle in the finals between two of the class heavyweights, Paul Gamino and Robert Churan. Gamino’S 2007 F-150 Saleen came out on top of this race at Orlando, but you bet these two will be crossing paths again somewhere later this year.
