MSA Pro Modified

If getting a fuel car down track was a problem, making a Pro Mod stick over the full quarter was a real task. Reigning MSA champ Andy Robinson managed to qualify on pole in a single shot session, run low ET 6.88 and high TS 228.07 mph (a testimony to spinning the slicks all the way through the lights) and had a couple of wild, wild rides on his way to defeating Bert Englefield in the final round.

Heads Up

Although the entry list promised a substantial entry in Top Methanol, the British entries didn’t turn a wheel (and who could blame them) leaving Dennis (near lane) and Timo (far lane) Habermann to shakedown their new rides for 2008. Timo took the all German battle with a six second pass in his ex-Duane Shields chassis whilst Dennis got comfortable in Timo’s 2007 car.

A depleted field for Super Modified saw Nigel Payne’s Torco-backed early Corvette stick around for the event win, taking the trophy unopposed in the final round, but was probably going to be a right handful in any case, having cracked out a couple of 7.73s in the preliminaries.
