The Pro Stock class at Atlanta saw the return of the iconic Glidden name when Billy Glidden made the field on the bump. Class winner Mike Edwards put on a driving clinic with his GXP Pontiac. Edwards had reaction times of .009 and .006 in the semi-final and final round on his way to the win.

In Pro Modified the bump for the field was one of the top five quickest in the history of the sport. It was yet another race without a nitrous injected car on the premises much less in the field. Eddie Ware, driving his '68 Firebird, got the win over rookie Roger Burgess.
