egas often is the town that celebrities who have been going through a down period pick to renew their careers. Elvis Presley, Celine Dion, and Prince come to mind as entertainers who reintroduced themselves to their public under the bright neon light of the Vegas Strip.

That scenario played itself out again last weekend at the other “strip” in Las Vegas, Bruton Smith’s drag racing speed palace known as The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Cory McClenathan in Top Fuel and Tim Wilkerson in Funny Car returned to the bright

lights of the Vegas strip’s winners circle, getting their first wins on the NHRA trail in several years. Wilkerson and McClenathan are both multiple time NHRA national event winners and they demonstrated why at this race, as they overcame an extremely difficult racing surface that required the drivers and tuners to be at the top of their games to get their wins.

Power Pro Stock player Jason Line, racing at an event hosted by his sponsor Summit Racing Equipment and in team owner Ken Black’s hometown, drove his Pontiac through a stellar field of Pro Stocks for his first win of the season.
