RACIN’ CAJUNS SHINE AT BELLE ROSE

Travis Franklin got the title defense of his 2007 ProCharger Street Renegade championship back on track by winning his first event of the year.

Hot weather, good food, great racing and a festive holiday spirit all combined for a great weekend at the 4th Annual Cajun Fun Ford Nationals at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La.

The points races began in earnest as summer arrived and Fun Ford racers have three events in the next five weekends due to rescheduled Atlanta event.

There’s going to be a lot of wars waged and money paid out as the season picks up steam this time of year.

National record holder Grant McCrary picked up his second consecutive series win and a cool $10,000 in Outlaw after qualifying number one. Grant met Conrad Scarry in the finals and scored a come from behind win to establish himself as the early favorite for the 2008 class championship.

In Street Renegade, defending class champion Travis Franklin overcame the loss of a data recorder to make all the right tuning calls to beat Angel Padilla in this all out battle of true 10.5 cars. This was Franklin’s first win of the year and a definite turning point for the season.

After completing a 30-mile cruise, Grant Bundy placed fourth in True Street with an 11.579 average on his three qualifying passes and then won the Modified Mustangs & Fords Quick 8 Shootout with a 10.504 at 130.40 mph.
