CRASH SEQUENCE

After going an impressive 3.96 in the opening round of qualifying, Canadian Raymond Commisso’s first ADRL experience ended on a sour note when his ’67 Camaro got out of shape in the second session and ended up hard into the wall near the eighth-mile marker. “It went into tire shake when it shifted to second gear and I should’ve lifted,” said Commisso, who was shaken up and suffered a nasty bump on his right elbow, but otherwise escaped injury. “I was going for the number, though, and tried to drive through it and it just got away from me. Everything happens fast in these cars.”

Canton, IL-based Alex Hossler also made his ADRL debut at Martin, starting his ’06 Vette 11th on the Pro Extreme qualifying list, then advancing with a first-round bye after Commisso was unable to continue. Hossler fell to Joshua Hernandez in the opening round of “arm-drop” competition on Sunday, which actually was the second round of eliminations.

Joshua Hernandez, winner of both ADRL national events completed so far this year, has a chance to make it a threepeat in Virginia, as he’s steered his ’57 Chevy to the final round against Bob Mandell Jr. in Toney Russell’s “Lowmad.”
