David Higgins of King George won the second $5k Challenge race of the three event series in this 1986 hatchback. This special low cost entry level class is for racers who can prove they have no more than $5,000 in their racer, which includes the cost of the car. The final event will be at Bristol.

The Showdown bracket classes saw Jon Pickering solidify his bid for the season championship with another victory in his venerable Mustang II, while Paul Gamino scored a win in what has to be the most expensive Ultra Stang ever. Robert Chuhran scored his second consecutive victory in Tough Truck, and David Higgins was the winner in the $5k Challenge class.


Wayne Richardson & Bill Alexander were all smiles. Haley Ford of Chester, VA sponsored the 10th annual Old Dominion Fun Ford Nationals and provided a vast display of new vehicles.

Will Williams completed a 30 mile qualifying cruise with no stops and then ran back to back laps with 9.744, 10.433 and 11.617 times to finish first in True Street time trials at Richmond with a 10.598 average.

True Street, always one of the most popular of all the Fun Ford classes, drew 66 entries at Richmond. Will Williams lead the field after time trials with a 10.598 average while Sean Dwyer was the Quick 8 winner on Saturday. The True Street bracket race on Sunday was won by Timmy Watts.

The Fun Ford circuit will return to action July 11-13 at Norwalk Raceway Park, for what has historically been one of its biggest races of the year. Both of the Probe Pro and Performance 2 Way Street Outlaw 10.5 heads up classes will be in action along with ProCharger Street Renegade.
