A Goodguy’s Burk’s Blast

This was my first Goodguys event in four or five years and I must say, despite the rain, I was thoroughly impressed by the racers, cars and staff. I’m looking forward to attending others.

Just Wondering… Is there a more hard core group of racers than those that support the Goodguys? Neither rain, floods, dark, night nor blown-up race cars kept these guys from racing.

Just Wondering… Is there a more dedicated racer than Top Fuel racer Brendan Murry? He had a horrendous fire during testing on Friday and yet was able to find a friendly shop close to the track where Top Fuel racer Howard Hight works and was able to repair his car and return to racing Sunday despite some nasty looking burns to his face.

Just Wondering… Does the name David Pace mean anything to most of you? Well if you don’t know the name, he was one of the drivers for the iconic Texas Top Fuel racers, the Carrol Brothers (aka the Texas Whips). I haven’t seen him race in years but he was in a car at Indy driving the wheels off of it.

Just Wondering…Does it seem like there are more ’41 Willys Gassers now than there ever were back in the day?

Just Wondering…What does Marc Meadors have on John Drummond? The Goodguy’s PR whiz doesn’t just handle the PR for the event, he also can be found in the barn teching cars and behind the announcer mike.

Just Wondering…When are the Goodguys going to get a weather break at Indy? It has rained on them six out of the last seven years.

Just Wondering…How the rising price of nitro is going to affect the low budget nitro racers in the NE1, 6.50 and 7.50 classes that race Goodguys events?
