PRO NITROUS

Charles Carpenter’s new 1955 Chevy made a successful debut in ADRL Pro Nitrous with a final round appearance against Billy Harper. Carpenter used Fulton power to stay in the 4.0’s through three rounds of eliminations to meet class record holder Harper in the finals. Carpenter got a .066 second jump at the start only to watch Harper motor by for a 3.936 to 4.036 victory.

In Pro Nitrous, Charles Carpenter’s new car did just about everything he could ask it to as he made the finals in his first appearance of the year. Billy Harper played the role of spoiler, however, as his self sponsored Viper continued to be a world beater. Harper was low qualifier with a 3.9339 and continued on that same pace with a come from behind victory over Carpenter.

EXTREME 10.5

Bill Glidden knocked off Todd Moyer (background) in the semifinals of Extreme 10.5 to face Steve Kirk in the final. Glidden had run low ET every round of eliminations. Glidden ran a 4.316 to win at 166.67 in his former NHRA Pro Stock car that now carries a nitrous small block.

Bill Glidden’s return to Pro Extreme 10.5 was a successful one as he came from the second qualifying position to post low ET every round in winning the event. The semifinals saw Glidden take out Todd Moyer’s twin turbo car while Steve Kirk knocked off Doug Horween’s Roots blower car. Kirk had the jump on Glidden at the start, but then shut the car down as Glidden drove by for the win.

Former NHRA SC and NOPI event winner Gary Gardella earned a round win at Radford in Extreme 10.5 after former NSCA champ Elliott Thompson broke off the starting line. Gardella’s FWD Ecotec-powered Chevy Cobalt ran a 4.9134 best at 155.71 mph in qualifying with the aid of a single turbocharger.
