At this event almost 100 of the quickest and fastest doorslammers in drag racing history and 26 no-rules  motorcycles showed up for the two-day speed fest. It was the largest number of entries at a single race in ADRL history. Drag racing superstar doorslammer drivers such as Rickie Smith, Robert Patrick, Billy Glidden, Shannon Jenkins and Joshua Hernandez were on hand and the Standing Room Only crowds on Friday and Saturday were not disappointed by those stars’ performances.
ADRL Extreme 10.5 newcomer Billy Glidden won his second-straight ADRL event, re-setting the ET record for the class while doing so. Multi-time World Champ Rickie Smith got his first coveted “ Minuteman” trophy in the  Pro Nitrous final,  Another World Champ (IHRA)  Robert Patrick made a little history and got his own  National Guard “Minuteman,” winning  of the first-ever ADRL Extreme Pro Stock event.

And competing in his home state and his “home” track, Baltimore’s Tommy Gray made the most of the debut of his new car in the unlimited Pro Extreme class. Pro Mod veteran Gray, driving a supercharged 1968 Camaro built by Vanishing Point Race Cars he picked up just three days prior to the race, won his first career National Guard “Minuteman” trophy.

BUDDS CREEK, MD — Maryland International Raceway located near the U.S. capital has a long and storied reputation for both Mountain Motor doorslammer races and huge crowds of doorslammer fans in its 40-year history. The ADRL’s National Guard-sponsored event of last weekend did nothing but improve on that reputation. The largest turnout of race cars and bikes in the ADRL’s history were greeted by what track owner Royce Miller says was track record attendance on both Friday and Saturday. That is an impressive feat considering that MIR has had an IHRA national event for years and also hosts many feature races during each season.
