At each FIA round Pro Modified gets better and better, Finland being no exception. 6.2s used to be considered stout numbers on the Alastaro 1320, but they were commonplace by the end of qualifying and 6.1s were now the mark as Urban Johansson and Marc Meihuizen sat on top of the pile clutching 6.190 and 6.194 time slips respectively. Come raceday and the first round of eliminations was littered with upset after upset as tire shake and more than a few wild rides did for all but two of the top qualifiers, but the Pro Dutch team of Robert Joosten ran straight and hard with the best single pass of the weekend, a track record setting ET of 6.174/230.35.

FIA Pro Stock Car

We are almost running out of things to say about Jimmy Alund as he really has the dominant raceday combination in FIA Pro Stock. Qualifying second with a 6.796/202.15 behind Richard Sundblom’s 6.770/205.01 pole setter (and yes, a track ET record) , Alund set low ET of each elimination round with a 6.841 best in the semis and then got out of the gate first against Tommy Leindahl and out ran him with a 6.881/200 to get a solid start on his title defence.

The Nitro Nationals saw Tommy Leindahl debuting his ex-Koretsky Cobalt and he managed to qualify on the quickest bump spot (6.930) in European Pro Stock competition. Leindahl had a dose of luck against Sundblom in the first round, although a late lane change from the pole sitter might have been a mistake, holeshot Eero Knihtila in the semis before his runner up finish.
