In the Top Alcohol class the diggers and floppers ran side by side on this weekend with a little handicap being applied to the dragsters. In Group A, Tim Nemeth in his '02 Camaro-bodied funny car was the winner over Garrett Bateman in his injected nitro dragster with a 5.905/223.88.

In Group B, the dragsters ruled that class as Bill Edwards Jr. singled to the win with a 5.76/237 as Randy Parker’s funny car could not make the call.

Doorslammer Action

The Canadian Pro Street Association also was on hand with one of their biggest fields to date for this relatively new association of racers.  For the Pro Street class, Garrett Richards in his '06 blown Chevy Silverado truck took the win with a 6.797/210.77 over Brian Lane in his (some time) nitrous Pro Mod '63 Corvette, who fouled away a nice 6.47/314.

In the 10.5 Outlaw Steve Nicholson powered his nitrous '66 Nova to a 8.10/175 to beat out Mark Campbell in his turbocharged '88 'Stang.

Top Comp went to Dave Richardson in his '97 Camaro at 7.781/172.97 over Greg Carlisle in his blown '92 Brad Hadman-chassied dragster.

PIT NOTES

Twig Zeigler spent his weekend trying to tame his “Pizza Haven” Plymouth Satellite funny car and seemed to get a step closer on every run as he dipped into the 8's on Sunday with a wheel spinning run that might have been quicker with better positioning for a stronger launch from the start line. His license is just around the corner for the NW legend and all-round good guy.

With one driver talking about building his own car (or buying an existing one), the awesome Parker clan (currently Top Alcohol runners) looking to field multiple Nostalgia Nitro machines next year, I would say the Northwest is looking strong going into '09. That’s Kim Park in the photo above.

And Jay Mageau will now be taking his time to make sure the Corvette flopper will be finished just right for a debut next year. And don't forget the all-new “Hawaiian Tropic” Dodge appearing by the end of this season. I'm already booking my seat for next year's race!
