Summer Motorsports Spectacular at Englishtown

Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ, was host to its legendary Wednesday night Summer Motorsports Spectacular July 9th. It was a bit of racing, a bit of spectacle and all entertaining.

THE RACING

Phil Burkart Jr. drove Paul Smith’s Tire Kingdom-sponsored Funny Car while Mike Smith was at the wheel of Paul Richard’s Merchant’s Tire mount. Hope they weren’t too “tired”  after the event.

Nick Boninfante’s “U.S. Male” AA/FC making its first race since restoration was first off the line in the second round, but a broken windshield prevented driver Paul Lee from making a full pass. Jake Crimmins in “Crazzzy Jake” got the win.

Andy Jensen ran a best of 6.281 at 216.48 and lifted about the 1,000-foot mark. Jensen’s Camaro is powered by a turbocharged small block Chevy engine built in his engine shop in PA.
