Mike Boettcher in “Mike’s Madness” Fiat cut a nice .011 reaction time to collect the Airaid / Torco reaction time money.

Dean Oberg was set on kill with Maroney in his sights.  At the launch he had Maroney covered by two car lengths… too bad they race quarter mile, as his burst panel and blower belt was only good for half track and he watched Maroney reset both ends of the series record and take home the RBS Superchargers Low ET award with a stellar 6.65 at 207 mph.

The final round paired up Maroney and Levitt. Levitt, loaded with everything but the kitchen sink was determined to knock Maroney off his pedestal.  When the tree came down, Levitt woke up first and held his lead until 1200 feet when Maroney squeaked by while fighting the centerline.  When the dust cleared, Maroney’s 6.62 to Levitt’s 6.68 put Maroney in the winners circle after the closest and fastest race of the season.  Excellent race!

After the record setting final round, teams were presented season awards.  Jim Maroney won top honors followed closely by Dan Levitt, Jr. and Sheldon Lofgreen.  Team Dinosaur took home the road warriors award for the most miles traveled.  Frank Davidson and Mike Nervik received the ultimate sacrifice awards for destroying cars at a WFA event, and Hal Sanguinetti was presented with an outstanding service award as the series race director and announcer.
