"I wouldn't care if it was three 4.00 runs or three in the 3s, we haven't had this much success since we started racing this car. We're very happy," Millen said.

Five drivers (Millen, Ulsch, Gary White in the Titan Motorsports Scion, Todd Moyer and Spiro Pappas) all had 3-second runs on Friday, but Ulsch and Millen could be on a collision course for the finals.

He'll need that consistency in a field that is packed tightly, with Pete Berner right behind in No. 2 at 4.077. Cary Goforth follows in third (4.079), but Gahm will be focused for his second straight win.

It wasn't a record-setting field in Pro Extreme Motorcycle, but Owens did his best to wow everyone at The Rock.  Making just the third pass on a new motor that debuted for this race, Owens and his Fast by Gast bike went 4.022 at 177.44 mph, which is currently .12 better than No. 2 and No. 3 qualifiers Terry Schweigert and Kim Morrell.  Owens went 4.07 during his second qualifying run and then blew everyone away - Paul Gast included - with his run of 4.02. He'll try to back that up Saturday to re-set his world E.T. record, but a 3-second run might be possible.

The fourth and final qualifying session for Simpson Dragstock VII had to dodge some intermittent rains, but when completed, provided class leaders going into the first round of eliminations.

Pro Nitrous was lead by veteran Shannon Jenkins ’68 Camaro with a strong 3.813 at 198.38 mph enough to back-up his new ADRL National Record from Friday’s sessions – with Jim Halsey’s Camaro grabbing the number two slot running 3.842 at 197.02 mph.

Dan Millen’s 2011 Mustang lead ADRL Extreme 10.5 Qualifying with his #1 3.858 at 202.79 mph pass and Chuck Ulsch’s ’68 Camaro took the #2 position with a 3.900 at 202.97 mph run after crashing a car in competition last week.  Millen with race #16 Jeff Naiser’s ’02 Grand Am in the first round of eliminations.

ADRL Extreme Pro Stock qualifying was tight with Brian Gahm’s Mustang at 4.062 and 175.89 mph, followed closely by Pete Berner’s ’09 Pontiac GXP ran a best of 4.064 at 176.68 mph. Cary Goforth follows in 3rd with his Chevy Cobalt running a 4.074 at 177.30 mph.

Alabama’s Ashley Owens’ Suzuki stayed in the #1 position in Pro Extreme Motorcycle with his 4.022 at 177.44 mph with Canadian Terry Schweigert’s 4.103 remaining in the #2 spot.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE

Persistent rain showers and multiple attempts at drying the track, ADRL officials have decided to pull the plug. There were 10 Pro Extreme cars in the lanes when the rain set in, so they will get to complete their qualifying in Norwalk. The plan is to complete the Simpson Dragstock event as a part of the Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
