Danny Rowe (far lane) took the first round win over Mike Knowles with a 6.001 at 245.23 to a 5.985/240.77 for the Corvette of Knowles.

Another Canadian racer, Raymond Commisso, ran a 6.042/241.84 to get a first upset win over the Ford Mustang of Mike Janis. Janis lead all qualifiers with a 5.887 in qualifying but could only muster an off the pace 6.118/219.36 in the first round.

In round one of eliminations  Joe Baker booted his Firebird to a 6.003/237.17 that defeated nitrous racer Troy Coughlin and his yellow and black Camaro. Baker eliminated Danny Rowe in the next round, 6.004/238.47 to Rowe’s 6.009/245.00. Commisso handed Baker a free pass into the finals with semifinal red light start that ended his day.
