The Top Dragster class at the event was filled with many “professional” sportsman racers including the likes of Nick Folk, Mike Ferrao, Anthony Bertozzi, Scotty Richardson and NHRA Pro Stock shoe Dave Connolly. But in the end none of those hitters were around for the final round win by Robert Snowball of Loxahatchie, Fla.
  
All of the above racers, with the exception of Connolly, advanced to the second round. The best race of the first round was the race between Michael Kalin and Wayne McCall. Both men had .006 Reaction Times but the quicker and faster Kalin got the win when McCall broke out by .001 recording a 7.179/180.26 on his 7.180 dial. Kalin was safe by nearly .03 running 6.876/190.27 on his 6.85 dial.

After the third round touring pros Fold and Ferrao were still in. Richardson was on the trailer when he lost by .001 to Paul Schultz. Richardson had a .021 package and Schultz a winning .020.

In the semi-final round Ferrao, who had an average light of .005 before that round, went .001 red against Snowball, who had cut a .001 light in the previous round and had been in the .030-040 RT range prior. In the other semi round Nick Folk had a very unusual .047 RT and Paul Schultz’s .027 combined with a 7.33 on a 7.29 dial was good enough to hold off Folk, who ran charged to a 7.12 on a 7.10 dial but could catch Schultz.

In the final Florida’s Robert Snowball took home the cash and points on a double breakout win over Schultz.

Florida racer Matthew Buck was the quickest car in the field by a tenth of a second after qualifying was done.

For a class that was virtually invented by the IHRA, only a disappointing seven teams entered a car in IHRA’s quickest and fastest doorslammer class.
