Todd Martin brought out a new Mustang for this race.

The Extremes delivered performance in a big way at the World Finals. Twenty-five cars were entered. When qualifying was done 17 of the first 19 qualifiers ran over 200 mph on the all-concrete Texas Motorplex surface known for delivering record speeds and ET’s.  In the end 14 of the 16 qualifiers went over the 200-mph mark and the mind-boggling   “bump” ET was a 3.729 by Mike Recchia. In fact, 17 cars attempting to qualify for the race ran over 200mph in the eighth-mile.

“This is just a wonderful way to end the year,” Scruggs said. "I'd be the first to tell you, you're only as good as your last pass, so this lets me go all winter saying I won."

Todd Tutterow’s car broke on the starting line in the first round. Here’s part of the reason why.
