Hemis and more in Maryland

The third event on the 2011 NMCA Flowmaster Muscle Car Nationals schedule stopped at the legendary Maryland International Raceway on June 3-5, which also marked the third annual ShopHEMI.com Late-model HEMI Shootout, where the country's quickest and fastest of Mopar's newest body styles can race in a variety of classes, from the index-based HEMI Rumble to Unlimited Heads-Up.

In Pro Street, Joe Dunne topped the field in qualifying by running 6.00 at 237, the quickest pass ever in this class. Dunne went on to take out Vinny Dimieri with a 6.09, then got a bye into the final. On the other side of the ladder, Chris Rini faltered against John Viscardi as the twin-turbo machine busted a killer 6.08. In the finals when the lights dropped Viscardi redlit, as Dunne ran another wicked 6.07, winning the event.

Super Street 10.5W featured an impressive field of six of the baddest NMCA Outlaws. Mike Murillo from San Antonio, Texas, continued his domination at this event, placing number one on the qualifying ladder with a stellar 6.61 at 219 mph. He took out Ed Rice in the semis, getting the bye into the final round where he took on Kevin Mitchell. When the lights dropped, Murillo reacted first and ran a 6.71 to 7.04, taking the event win.

In Nostalgia Pro Street, Jeff Colletta (shown) started out on the right foot, running an incredible 7.19 at 189 mph. He got a bye in the first round and went on to take out Jim Jarrett with a 7.26, Joe Bucaro with a 7.25, and in the finals he busted a 7.28 to take down Skip Baskin.
