Starting the feature show, Mitch King and Chris Trussell laid down side by side burnouts and returned to the launch pad where teams made their final adjustments.  King was out of the gate with a strong .041 reaction time and clicked off a solid 4.14 at 176 mph but saw nothing but the back end of the “Assassin” machine as Chris Trussell ripped off the quickest pass of the night with a 3.910 at 183 mph to take the win and set the bar for the ten competitors set to follow.

Brad Rigler and Donnie Massey thundered through the waterbox next and team “Toxic” had this one from start to finish.  Rigler got the jump off the line and ripped off another 3.96 pass at 180 mph to take the nod over Massey who gave him a great race with a 4.14 at 179 mph.  This continued Rigler’s wonderful comeback season after qualifying number one at the season opener and notching a strong first round win here in Denton, atop claiming a spot in the respected three second club.  It’s hard to imagine the reality that his 3.96 elapsed time wasn’t safe with the caliber machines still sitting in the lanes.
