If the inaugural race for the new Duncan Race Cars Midwest Pro Mod Super Series is an indicator of what is to come, the fans are going to be able to watch some outstanding eighth-mile Pro Mod racing this season.

The series allows just one power-adder, which means you can see cars powered by superchargers, turbochargers, nitrous oxide injection or even with a small percentage of nitro in the alcohol all running against each other.

There were a variety of auto manufacturers represented including Oldsmobile, Ford, plus a ’57 Chevy, a C-5 ‘Vette and a couple of Camaros. While almost all of the cars featured automatic/torque converter transmissions, there were a variety of power-adders used. There were three blown Hemi-powered cars, a couple of nitrous-injected GM motors, a turbocharged big block Ford and a screw supercharged AJ wedge-head engine.

The Duncan Race Cars series opener was held at Iowa’s premier 1/8th mile dragstrip, Eddyville Raceway Park in Oskaloosa, at that track’s annual doorslammer extravaganza.

Former Super Chevy Nitro Coupe Champ Randy Adler and Ed Rogers in the ex-Alex Hossler, Chris Duncan-built C-5 ‘Vette were in the finals, but they had to put away some stiff competition in some outstanding races to get to there.
