Next up was a battle of Trans Ams, as local favorite Brett Harris Tim Boychuk. This one was a real beauty, as Harris took a starting line advantage and was well ahead as they passed the tree, but that Roland Leong tune up started to show its hand and by half-track it was neck and neck. At the strip it was Boychuk for the win at 6.05 at 225.22 miles per hour, Harris right next to him at 6.18 and big speed (for the high altitude) at 235.29 mph.

The third pair featured Mark Sanders in the Mr. Explosive Nova and Roger Garten in the War Horse Mustang.  Garten was a bit to amped up for this race, as he went red at the start, allowing the Nova an easy win. It was, however, a somewhat costly win: as Sanders got to about 1100 feet the motor started to burn a bunch of pistons and then it threw a rod out of the side of the block, which effectively sidelined the team from Washington, as they had hurt their other motor on Friday night. The final pairing would bring out Todd Lasenko facing the sentimental favorite, James Day, in Dale Pulde’s War Eagle Trans Am.  At the green this time it was Lasenko who was first, but just by a hair. However this time the War Eagle started to violently rattle the tires and Day made a wise choice and shut the car off, as Lasenko, who has a set of biceps rivaled only by Hulk Hogan, used every bit of that strength to keep his mount straight while spinning the tires, and took the win with a 6.32 at 227.10 miles per hour.
