"Right from the first round when V. Gaines crossed over into my lane after I shook the tires," Morgan said, "I felt like something good was going to happen today. Then when we beat Jason in the semis, we really thought it was possible.

"The whole team did a great job to get where we are and we're excited for that."

On Saturday, Erica Enders drove her ZaZa Energy Chevy Cobalt to a 6.585 run, a new track record, at 209.10 to earn her second No. 1 qualifier of the season and third of the season.

“The run we made out there today was awesome,” said Enders. “We laid down a pretty stout run. I knew it when I let the clutch out. It just carried the front end real nice. Earlier this morning, our first run, we knew we had to get down the racetrack considering we were only going to get two (rounds).”

In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Eddie Krawiec held off Matt Smith in the final round to get the win. Krawiec drove his Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson to a 7.077 run at 187.81 to get his second win of the season and ninth of his career.

“It’s awesome to be back in the No. 1 spot,” said Krawiec, who moved into the points lead with the win. “I want it. I’m not going to exaggerate. I want to hold that No. 1 spot all year long. My goal coming into this season was to see if and hope that Wally had 15 brothers. I’ve got two of them so far, and I’m just going to continue doing what I’ve been doing and just try and improve on my riding itself, and hopefully, more wins will come.”

GT Tonglet notched his first 2011 round win in upsetting fashion Sunday when he eliminated Hector Arana Jr. – the No. 1 qualifier – in the first round of the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals.

Tonglet, the No. 16 qualifier, put the Nitro Fish/Tonglet Racing Pro Stock Suzuki GXP into the lead from the starting line with a .026-second reaction time and was unchallenged.  He was timed in 7.023 seconds at 188.02 while Arana, who had a .103-second reaction, took 15.041 seconds at 49.14 mph.

“That was a good first round,” said Tonglet, who was competing in his second race of the season on a new Suzuki.  “We stole one from him.”

Tonglet improved his reaction time to .007-second against David Hope in the quarterfinals but Hope won, 6.993 at 190.30 to 7.023 at 190.30.

His brother and 2010 PSM champion, LE, did not qualify for the Norwalk race.
