Alan Von Ahnen

The Drag Radial class had eight of the baddest radial cars, with Sean Lyon topping them all with a 7.60, Jason Lee ran a 7.61 to place second, and third was Brad Medlock who ran 7.61 at 182 mph. The winner of the last NMCA event, Manson, ran the table at Route 66, starting with a win over Jeff Lutz Jr., then a victory over Jason Lee, who ran off-pace, then he took on Brad Medlock in the final round. When the lights dropped, Medlock reacted with a .153, but it was way too late, and Manson was on to his second victory where he ran a 7.74 to seal it.

Mean Street saw Jeremy Gillam grabbing the number one spot with a 9.90, while Alan Von Ahnen got the number two spot with a 9.91 at 133 mph, and Don Baskin got third with a 9.94. Gary Duncan, the number four qualifier, took down the qualifying leader in a close 10.22 to 10.95 race. This meant Duncan got a bye into the final to face the winner of an Alan Von Ahnen versus Don Baskin match. Von Ahnen ended up in the final by virtue of taking down Doug Johnson in the first round and Baskin in the semi-finals.

In the final, Duncan reacted with a .070 as Von Ahnen shot out with an .061 and when the tire smoke cleared, the scoreboards read 10.67 to 10.46, with Von Ahnen getting the “W” on his side.

In the index classes, Late Model EFI saw Edgar Perez winning by .014 over Al Corda with a holeshot. In Nostalgia Muscle Car, Gerry Vizzo took down Don Fotti, and in Nostalgia Super Stock, Doug Poskevich won against Doug Duell, who redlit. Open Comp came down to Andy Brodzinski and Kurt Neighbor, but it wasn't much of a race as Neighbor lit the red bulb by only -.001. The overall winner of True Street was Tim Gehrs who ran 9.56, 9.68, and 9.33 for an average of 9.52.

In the NMCA versus NMRA Shootout, the NMRA was able to win it again this year seven to five. This Shootout win means the NMRA racers lead the overall event tally, four to two.
