The Injected Funny Car final, the only fliptop class run as a rue eliminator, went to Willy Johnson Jr. of Edison, NJ and the No Money No Funny 1968 Nova body. Willie was quite deserving of the crown, having been to every Funny Car Reunion since they began ten years ago. Runner up accolades went to John Mazzola in his ‘survivor’ paint 1972 $$ Moneymaker Camaro.

The Chicago-style Blown Alcohol title went to Kim McKean’s Agent Orange Duster on a single; in the background is the Screamin’ Eagle Firebird of Rocky Pirrone, who pitched the blower belt on the burnout to end his day.

Pirrone’s hard luck followed a mid-week trailer fire on the turnpike with his Big Time Memories Willys; he was able to put it out thanks to safety training. As seen, the car was singed in the debacle.
