Wrapping up qualifying for the nostalgia cars found Frank Hawley making his first race in a AA/FC, driving the Chi-Town Hustler tribute against Dale Pulde in his War Eagle. Both cars were strong, but there can only be one win light, and it was illuminated by Pulde, who overcame the faster Hawley.

As preparations for the final and consolation rounds began, much of Huron County experienced a power outage from just before 9:00 pm until 10:40, putting the track into total darkness. But just as hope was fading for finishing the event, the engineers at Ohio Edison were able to restore power, and the show was back on. During the power outage fans were remarkably patient, and when the racing resumed, very few fans had left.

In the consolation round, number Jeff Arend raced Buckeye Jim Head. Head pedaled to try to maintain traction and shut down. Arend had a solid launch, but stepped off of the throttle at around the 660-foot mark, then put his foot back in it to take the win.

Next was the feature race of the evening as John Force and Robert Hight faced each other for the Auto-Plus Night Under Fire Championship.

As might be expected from two world champs, the final was one for the ages. Force roared down the track, running a 4.238 @ 296.05, but Hight powered by him with a 4.190 @ 274.39 to trip the win light and win his first-ever Auto-Plus Night Under Fire race.
