The first qualifying session on Saturday afternoon saw the Ford Escort of Bill Perdikaris shut off early then get loose in the traps and hit the front clip on the finish-line wall. After watching the car shut off I looked back to the startline when a bunch of oohs and aahs saw the little Ford end up at 90 degrees to the wall. The car ended up qualifying in fourteenth spot with a 7.221 and while improving to a 7.165 in the first round he couldn’t catch Shane Tucker’s quicker 7.125 despite a superior reaction time.

New ANDRA Pro Stock Bike champion, Suzuki rider, Maurice Allen waits to be called up for the Pro Bike final – the only thing is that his opponent, Kawasaki rider, Phil Howard has damaged his engine in his win over Michael Gilbertson in the semi-finals. Allen took a single on his Vance and Hines Milwaukee Power Tools bike to the tune of 7.394 183.19. “It was great to take the win”, Allen told the crowd at the race presentations. “We have had a good year winning the title and I am looking forward to trying to repeat it over the coming season”, he added.

The Pro Stock Bike field was down on normal with only seven bikes in attendance. Warnambool, Victorian Suzuki rider, Glen Wooster managed to qualify his blue bike in fourth position thanks to a 7.666. He faced Lachie Ireland’s similar mount in the first race of the round and his 7.741/150.25 crept by a second best 8.403. In the semis he ran into the Allen juggernaut and unfortunately for him Allen ran low ET of the meet in defeating him - 7.328 to a second best 7.529.
