While reading the newest issue of Drag Illustrated, it became evident that we can no longer say that Piedmont  Dragway’s Original BIG DOG SHOOTOUT success story is a secret.  In Wes Buck’s editorial, he suggested to get anyone interested in drag racing to have them attend one of several events and the Shootout was on the list.  Further on in the issue, in an interview with Troy Coughlin, he mentioned the Big Dog Shootout and recently, while at the fall NHRA event at zMAX Dragway, Troy discussed, with a huge Coughlin smile, how he had won the fall North South Shootout to the tune of $50,000, and how that was one of his fondest wins. Jeff Burk’s online publication, Drag Racing Online, features the shootout and always give a prominent place to the racing coverage at Piedmont.

Now, with the addition of Lucas Oil Products as a major sponsor, the 2013 season looks even brighter.

This aside, October was the final event of the year at the Greensboro, NC, track and points titles were on the line.  So follow along, children, and we will try to enlighten you as to all the winners and those who were close to winning.
