McBride made his only run in the 6s all weekend when he ran 6.026 at 235.43 to beat Trond Hoiberget, who is also from Sweden, in the first round of eliminations. Also in round one, Svein Rolfstad from Norway beat Bengtsson, Tii Tharpe from North Carolina beat Swedish rider Rikard Gustafsson, and Rickey House from Texas eliminated Grimes.

Both races in round two ended up being singles as House was unable to even take the tree against Rolfstad who ran 6.605 at 187.76. It wasn’t even close to enough to get lane choice though, with McBride going 5.835 at 227.46 after Tharpe broke on the launch and got no time.

Unfortunately, the final also ended up being a single when Rolfstad’s bike showed a leak at the end of his burnout. McBride then ran his best pass of the weekend with a 5.829 at 222.47 mph to take the win and his 11th championship.

“My guys do a great job with the bike every weekend. It was prepped the best possible way it could be prepped. We did have some cylinder dropping problems, but even with that it still was running extremely quick. It is just an honor to ride it, just so much fun to ride,” said McBride.

In Pro Dragster, another North Carolina racer Johnny Vickers qualified number one with a 7.229 at 175.52 mph with Kirby Apathy right behind at 7.262 at 178.17 mph.

Vickers ran low ET for the class with a 7.103 at 177.21 to beat Rich Crouthers in round one and Apathy ran 7.250 at 170.39 to beat Rich Vreeland. Rookie rider Janette Thornby also advanced over Dave Nilles and Clint Pleasant beat Rocky Jackson.

Pleasant left first on Vickers, but Vickers came back to win with a 7.222 at 177.35 in round two and Apathy got lucky when Thornby went red and threw away her quicker and faster 7.546 at 162.86 against Apathy’s 7.666 at 138.97 run.

In the final round Vickers got a .043 holeshot, but he made his worst pass of the weekend with a 7.364 at 174.03 while Apathy won with a 7.244 at 178.57 mph run.

After qualifying number one, new eighth-mile ADRL motorcycle champion Eric McKinney won the special Pro Nitrous race at the Manufacturers Cup and set new records 6.363 and 204.91 for the nitrous Pro Mod bikes in the quarter mile.

In other supporting classes Ryan Schnitz won in Pro Street, Ricky Gadson won the Real Street final, and Paul Gast won Pro Comp, the only eighth-mile class of the weekend. Four more heads-up sportsman classes and two bracket racing classes were unable to complete eliminations due to the track’s curfew.
