Four hours later. Out with the old: ready for the new wires now. But we have work to do on the dash first. The original 1970 dash had been drilled into, cut out, and basically chopped up to get gauges and switches mounted. Time for a new, better looking dash panel.
This is the old Olds dash with steering column removed. At 45 lbs, it won't be going back in. Old instrument panel out, old wiring out... now we can start fresh.

First look at the Elite Relay panel and MSD ignition mounted on our floor-mounted panel. Can't find a nice piece of aluminum for a mount? Me either;  I went to Wal-Mart and bought a nylon cutting board to use as the mounting panel. Easy to work with and stiff enough to hold the parts steady.
