The Pro Extreme class had the largest individual class car count with 25 drivers trying for a spot in the 16-car field. Alex Hossler led the pack with a 3.658 at 206.26.

When asked, Hossler said, “I’m not sure what the plans are for this year. I was asked to test the car early this year in Bradenton, Florida, and thought that was it, but here we are in Houston.”

The rest of PX field had the regular names such as Jason Scruggs, Todd Tutterow, Quain Stott, Bubba Stanton, Joey Martin and Von Smith qualified, but there were a few surprises and first timers that made the show such as Dan Millen, Tim Tindle, Mike Recchia and Brandon Pesz, which left heavy hitters like Josh Hernandez, Frankie Taylor and John Stanley on the bottom side of the 3.831 bump spot.

Tim Tindle made his Pro Extreme racing debut behind the wheel of one of Frankie Taylor’s Corvettes. Randall Reid purchased the ’57 Chevy formerly driven by J.R. Todd  (far lane) and will be racing it this year.  (Steven Bunker photo)
