Stanfield, who qualified 12th, left the starting line first and Brogdon was never able to challenge him. The winning time was 6.680 seconds at 205.88 mph to a 6.696 at 205.54
“The car is reacting to the tune-ups,” Stanfield commented, “and that’s huge.”
Stanfield drove away from Krisher in the quarterfinals, using a .029 reaction time into an unchallenged win, 6.691 at 205.54 to 6.700 at 206.80. Up against Vincent Nobile in the semifinals, Stanfield fouled out by two-thousandths of a second.
“It felt good to have the car go down the track like it did on all three runs,” added Guarnaccia. “We definitely learned a lot and we are building our data base.”
