Dad Dean Goforth put his 2010 GXP Pontiac on the pole with a very good 6.243/233.10. Lester Cooper from nearby Laurinburg, WV, was the sole car not in the sixes with a qualifying time of 7.672/127.41.

After the first round both Goforths, Minnesota racer Matt Bertsch in a Mustang and Todd Hoerner’s 2012 Camaro advanced to the second round.

In the second round Dean Goforth put a two-hundredths holeshot on Bertsch but that didn’t get him the win as Bertsch’s Mustang galloped to a 6.270/221.42, running down Goforth at 1,000 feet and going on for the win.

Like his dad, Cary Goforth also put a holeshot on his opponent in the second round. Goforth’s .049 bulb to Hoerner’s tardy .140 RT allowed him to win easily despite a 6.234/224.17 top end charge by Hoerner’s Camaro. Goforth’s 6.262/222.77 was good for the win light but Hoerner got a little satisfaction as he was Low ET of the meet for the Pro Stock class.

In the final Goforth again knocked the tree down with a stellar .013 RT while Bertsch had a .107 RT, his worst of the race. Goforth’s 6.250/223.50 easily covered Bertsch’s 6.259/222.47.
