This was the first event back for Famoso Raceway’s Chief Starter Bill Condit who has been away from the track with health issues for the past few months, well racers… He’s Back!

Tony Ruggerio’s wheel standing, fire belching nitro Harley also put on a wild show for the Famoso Raceway spectators.

In the Winners Circle, rookie Messenger, who had kept his speeds under the NHRA mandated 240 mile per hour zone for funny cars without carbon fiber equipped front brakes, collected his $3,000 prize money from VP Track Manager Blake Bowser.

The final round found the two quickest of the night with Zane Messenger’s 5.768 ET 233.20 charge defeating Dan Horan Jr. who slowed to a 5.923 ET at 210.18 mph.

Since this first Special Event of the was a success, the next Saturday Night Nitro event at Auto Club Famoso Raceway on July 28 with nitro funny cars will probably include a fireworks show as well as other show elements, now in the planning stages.  Don’t forget the Jets!!
