Jason Scruggs

Unlike the Pro Nitrous and Pro Stock winners who won their first ADRL races at Martin, Pro Extreme (PX) winner Jason Scruggs has a long and stellar record of race wins and ADRL championships.

In recent months Scruggs has shown signs of returning to the dominance of the class he once enjoyed. His win at Bristol earlier in the year coupled with his domination-style victory in Michigan would seem to indicate that Jason Scruggs has absolutely returned to form. His supercharged car ran in the 3.60’s at over 204 mph on every lap on race day. His average reaction time on Saturday was under .025 and he capped off the day by setting a new track record for door cars with a 3.638 at 208.87 mph effort in the finals that buried a resurgent Terry Leggett.

“Legbone” Leggett ran his best of the event (3.689/205+) in the finals but still trailed Scruggs by nearly 30 feet at the finish line.

Scruggs’ win was his eighth career Pro Extreme win and ties him with Joshua Hernandez for the most in Pro Extreme wins in ADRL history.
“It was a very good day today and we’re real happy to get the win,” Scruggs said. “Every round here is tough. Tommy had a great run, and Terry and his team are a great group of guys.

“I’ve never had that much luck here, but the track was really good and things just worked out well.”

Bubba Stanton’s ‘69 Camaro Pro Extreme has one of the more extreme bodies we’ve seen lately. The slab-sided car has a distinct funny car look.

Scruggs’ teammate Mick Snyder’s three race win streak came to an end when he lost in the first round. That loss coupled with Scruggs’ win actually tightened up the Championship points race that Snyder was threatening to run away with. With Scruggs’ earlier win in Bristol and Snyder’s winning of the three previous wins their two-car PX team has won the last five races.

Mike Castellana was superb in his fourth trip to an ADRL final this year in Aeromotive Fuel Systems Pro Modified division. The New York racer reeled of an unreal 3.827 at 196.35 mph timing in the final, the quickest ET in the history of the class for the Reher-Morrison equipped Al-Anabi sponsored Camaro.

Driving a 2012 RJ Race Cars Camaro in an all East Coast final, Castellana beat New Jersey legend Pat Musi in an all nitrous-oxide injection final and added to his Pro Mod Championship points lead. It also gives him 13 career wins to match Bill Glidden and Ashley Owens for the most in ADRL history.
